The montessori Sandpaper Globe-Land & Water is a sensorial and geographical material that helps children learn about the shape and composition of the earth. It is a small world globe that has a sand surface representing land and a smooth surface representing water. The wooden base holds the globe at a 23° angle, the same as the earth’s axis in relation to the sun. The globe is introduced to children to help them recognize land and water, as well as the feeling of both the rough and smooth surfaces.
